Defected In The House Live @ iTunes Festival UK

Hold on to your eardrums people; in association with iTunes and Ministry of Sound, we are proudly announce a ground-breaking weekend of live house music with two incredible Defected In The House Live dates taking place in London this July, the biggest in our history.

This unique House Music celebration features live performances of some of Defected’s biggest releases as well as other titanic dance classics such as ‘You Got The Love’ by the legendary original recording artists including Candi Staton, Julie McKnight, Barbara Tucker, Steve Edwards and many more all backed by the Defected In The House Live Band. Plus, there will also be very special DJ sets from the Shapeshifters, Copyright and Simon Dunmore – with the drum warrior Shovell on Percussion.

This two day event in two world-renowned London venues is not only the ultimate DJ and Live music clubbing experience but a one-off opportunity to hear such an illustrious range of artistes performing house music in a never-heard-before live context all together on the same stage.

The first night of the two-part special will take place at Camden ’s legendary Roundhouse venue on Friday 23rd July as part of this year’s iTunes Festival. We are the only dance label in the world to curate our own night in the month-long festival, and we are honoured to be taking part alongside diverse acts from Faithless, Goldfrapp and The Scissor Sisters to Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Bennett!

Then on Saturday 24th the party moves on to the spiritual home of Defected In The House, Ministry of Sound. Those of you lucky enough to have attended our 10th birthday celebrations there last year will know what an incredible event it was, and these back-to-back nights will take the concept of live house music to a whole new level.

In another first for the label, Defected In The House Live at the iTunes Festival will be recorded and available to download exclusively from iTunes worldwide within hours of the event (further details to follow).

“Dance Music as part of popular culture had it’s up and downs, but the simple fact remains that we’re still here and we’re still packing out venues every weekend,” say the Shapeshifters’ Simon Marlin “so it doesn’t surprise me that this year’s iTunes festival has a day dedicated to the love of House!”

“The Defected In The House Live event is really going to stand out” says legendary singer Candi Staton of the events. “I’ve always loved my dance songs the most, from ‘You Got The Love’ to ‘Young Hearts Run Free’ and now, my ‘Wilder Side’ collaboration with Rasmus Faber and Alf Tumble. The idea is innovative, dynamic and simply incredible.”

“To be jammin’ for iTunes… OMG(!)” says Barbara Tucker. ‘”It is a dream for me to be part of House Music history in this way with Defected Records Live In The House at the iTunes Festival.”
