MOS Interviews Fedde le Grand

Hey Fedde, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us!

My pleasure.

Well first and foremost, why did you choose ministry of sound for you’re first ever London residency?

It was the obvious choice for me. It’s the most famous club in the UK, it’s one of the biggest clubbing brands in the world and it’s been at the forefront of dance music for almost two decades. Every time I’ve played there the atmosphere has been electric and I’ve walked away each time just blown away by the people, the sound system, the lights, everything – it’s one of the best clubs in the world. I don’t do many residencies outside of Ibiza so it had to be somewhere extraordinary for me to commit to – Ministry of Sound ticked all my boxes. This is going to be home for me so it had to be perfect.

You last played in February, what is it about the club that you love?

Yeah last time I was here was for the Toolroom Knights party and it was nuts. We got to the club around 1.30am, maybe 2am, and the line to get in was insane, there were still hundreds of people waiting all the way around the corner and on the main road to get in. It was just a wicked party, when you get all the elements right at somewhere like Ministry of Sound, because they’ve got everything there to support you, like the DJ booth which is like something out of Star Trek, the sound system, the lighting guys – it just all comes together to give you a massive night.

How did you find the vibe in the club?

Electric. Looking out from the DJ booth, seeing over a thousand people going nuts, the whole room jumping, the sound banging, the lights going, knowing you’re about to drop a mix that’s going to make them lose their heads – that’s a feeling you can’t even describe, it gives me shivers thinking about it.
